A small, finely detailed devotional sculpture of the Pietà — the Sorrowful Mother holding the body of Christ taken down from the Cross — modelled after Michelangelo's masterpiece in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City.

Cast in Italy in the classic alabaster-tone resin composite used for Roman pilgrim souvenirs of the second half of the 20th century, with a warm, hand-applied antique patina that brings out the folds of Our Lady's mantle, her veiled downcast face and the anatomy of the Saviour. The front of the stepped oval base is moulded with the title PIETA'.

Please see all photos — they are part of the description.

A meaningful keepsake

The word pietà means piety and compassion. Small enough for a home altar, prayer corner, bedside table or desk, this Pietà is a quiet reminder of Mary's sorrow and Christ's sacrifice — and a thoughtful gift for Good Friday, a bereavement, Confirmation, or any collector of Catholic devotional art.
