1828 French Royal Notarial Document — Charles X

An original French notarial manuscript dated 15 October 1828, dating from the reign of King Charles X of France (1824–1830) and the period of the Bourbon Restoration.

The document opens with the formal royal heading:

“Charles, par la grâce de Dieu Roi de France et de Navarre”
Charles, by the grace of God King of France and Navarre

This historic manuscript records a property sale, including a house, garden and land, together with detailed legal clauses establishing the terms and conditions of the transaction.

Written in French in period handwriting, the document provides an authentic glimpse into the legal and administrative practices of early 19th-century France.

The manuscript includes multiple pages of handwritten legal text, two visible fiscal stamps, several original signatures and the notarial closing formula “Pour grosse.”

Dating from the Bourbon Restoration, the document belongs to an important period of French history between the Napoleonic era and the July Monarchy. Its royal heading, contemporary handwriting, fiscal stamps and notarial structure make it a particularly interesting historical manuscript for collectors of French documents, royal-era ephemera, legal manuscripts and Bourbon Restoration material.
