A beautiful antique Catholic devotional medal featuring Pope Pius XI on one side and Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the great Apostles of Rome, on the reverse.
The obverse bears the portrait of Pius XI, who served as Pope from 1922 to 1939, with the traditional Latin inscription “PIVS XI PONT MAX”.
The reverse depicts Saint Peter and Saint Paul, traditionally regarded as the principal Apostles associated with the Church of Rome. Saint Peter is represented with the key, while Saint Paul is associated with the sword — distinctive symbols of the two Apostles.
The medal has a beautiful warm aged bronze/copper tone and natural antique patina, with visible signs of age and wear that give it an authentic historical character.
