Original antique Catholic devotional Brown Scapular composed of two cloth panels joined by the original brown neck bands.
One panel depicts Our Lady of Mount Carmel presenting the scapular to St. Simon Stock, the traditional scene associated with the origin of the Carmelite Scapular devotion. The reverse panel shows Our Lady of Mount Carmel holding the Christ Child.
The scapular is decorated with printed devotional imagery and hand-stitched borders. Such scapulars were worn by Catholics as a sign of dedication to the Blessed Virgin Mary and affiliation with the Carmelite tradition.
