A beautiful vintage Catholic medal commemorating the Holy Year of 1933–1934, proclaimed by Pope Pius XI to mark the 1900th anniversary of the Redemption.
The obverse features a portrait of Pope Pius XI with the inscription:
“PIO XI P.M. ROMA – ANNO SANTO 1933–1934”
The reverse presents Christ the Redeemer, depicted with His arms extended over the world. The composition includes the Basilica of Saint Peter and Calvary with the three crosses, surrounded by the Latin inscription “REDEMPTOR MUNDI” – “Redeemer of the World.”
A beautiful historical devotional object from the Catholic tradition, dating to the period of the 1933–1934 Holy Year.
