Rare Relic of Saint Peter Julian Eymard – Original Cloth Relic

A rare and beautifully preserved Catholic relic associated with Saint Peter Julian Eymard (1811–1868), founder of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament.

This small original relic packet bears the printed French inscription:

“PARCELLE DU LINGE
DU
Vénérable Serviteur de Dieu
PIERRE-JULIEN EYMARD
Fondateur
de la Congrégation du Très Saint Sacrement”

Translated:

“A portion of the cloth of the Venerable Servant of God Pierre-Julien Eymard, Founder of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament.”

The packet contains a small cloth relic associated with Saint Peter Julian Eymard. The reverse bears an ecclesiastical seal, adding important historical character to this devotional object.

Pierre-Julien Eymard was a French Catholic priest and religious founder whose spirituality was deeply centered on the Eucharist. In 1856 he founded the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, dedicated to Eucharistic devotion and adoration. He was beatified by Pope Pius XI in 1925 and canonized by Pope John XXIII on 9 December 1962.

His relics have long been venerated by the Congregation he founded; the chapel dedicated to him in Paris has housed his relics since the late 19th century.

Interestingly, historical documentation also records authenticated relics of Pierre-Julien Eymard consisting of pieces of fabric associated with him, demonstrating the existence of this type of devotional relic within Catholic practice.
