A long length of handmade vintage liturgical lace trim, about 8 cm wide, with an openwork pattern and a Chi-Rho (☧) Christogram worked into the design. Trims like this were sewn along the edge of altar cloths or the hem of albs and surplices.
Made entirely by hand, it shows the small irregularities and subtle variations between repeats that machine lace never has. At 4.8 metres in one continuous piece, it is long enough to edge a full altar cloth or to restore a vestment, or it can be framed or displayed as a piece of church textile history.
