Blessed Anne of Saint Bartholomew – Carmelite Relic Card
A beautiful and historically interesting Catholic relic card dedicated to Blessed Anne of Saint Bartholomew (1549–1626), a Carmelite nun and one of the closest companions of Saint Teresa of Avila.
The card contains a small textile relic identified by the Latin inscription:
“E. LINTEIS B. ANNAE A S. BARTHOLOMAEO”
meaning “from the linens/cloth of Blessed Anne of Saint Bartholomew.”
The relic is preserved within an original devotional card, accompanied by the image of Blessed Anne wearing the Carmelite habit and holding a cross.
The reverse bears a Carmelite authentication/postulation marking referring to the cause of her beatification and canonization in Flanders.
Blessed Anne was born in Almendral, Spain, in 1549. She entered the Carmelite community founded by Saint Teresa of Avila and became Teresa's close companion, nurse and secretary. Teresa died in Anne's arms in 1582. Anne later helped establish Carmelite foundations in France and Belgium, including the Carmel of Antwerp. She was beatified in 1917.
