Antique Catholic Devotional Card – Precious Blood of Christ, Bruges, Belgium, 1922
A beautiful antique Catholic devotional card dedicated to the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, venerated in Bruges, Belgium.
The front depicts the magnificent reliquary of the Precious Blood, surrounded by rays of light and views of the historic churches of Bruges. The inscription states that the Precious Blood has been preserved and venerated in Bruges since 1150.
The reverse features a detailed French historical notice describing the history and devotion surrounding the relic, together with information about Masses, prayers, Holy Communion and the annual procession in Bruges.
At the bottom is an ecclesiastical Imprimatur dated Bruges, 31 July 1922, making this a particularly interesting historical devotional piece.
This is a devotional card depicting and commemorating the relic of the Precious Blood; the card itself is not claimed to contain a relic.
A wonderful addition to a collection of antique Catholic ephemera, Belgian devotional objects, Eucharistic memorabilia, or historical religious prints.
